Types of Coffee
Of the two major classes of coffee, Arabica coffee is considered more suitable for drinking than Robusta coffee. Robusta tends to be bitter and less flavorful than Arabica. For this reason, Reading Coffee Roasters only uses Arabica beans. Beans from different countries or regions usually have distinctive characteristics such as flavor, aroma, body, and acidity. These taste characteristics are dependent not only on the coffee's growing region, but also on genetic subspecies (varietal) and processing. Varietals are generally known by the region in which they are grown, such as Colombian, Kenya, or Kona. Brazil remains the world’s largest coffee producing nation, followed by Vietnam and Indonesia. Vietnam is the major producer of Robusta beans which, because of their lower cost, are much favored by industrial clients, such as multinational roasters and makers of instant coffee. However, Reading Coffee Roasters does not sell Robusta Beans. So, don’t be mistaken by our inexpensive prices. Reading Coffee Roasters only sells Arabica coffee, therefore, you can be assured you’re getting a high quality coffee at a great price. |
